As I see the corruption of cells that trump is, pulling out of the accord is a great thing for him because it takes the spotlight off his Russian mess. He knew the world would have a shit fit over pulling out of the accord. He counted on it. He’s an excellent criminal manipulator running his tiny little hands over everything that could have given us hope. Scum like mitch McConnell who set out to destroy Obama’s presidency have lead us here. They called out to the unlearned, unread, white hatemongers and got them stirred up enough to help put this corrupt POS in office. Now we have an infantile idiot at the controls of what once was a nation that had some decency. The haters knew to lay low because they weren’t sanctioned. Now they have the blessing of a president to commit whatever atrocity they want. I have no adequate command of the language to express the disgust and rage I feel toward this destroyer of decency. We had many flaws and faults as a nation but we also had had some hope of rising above our mistakes. A cancer like trump may very well be terminal for us. Even if we could be rid of him immediately his disease may have metastasized throughout our populace to the point that we’re doomed… And those who still worship him will obstruct every effort to salvage the country. It feels like watching a loved one swimming headlong toward deadly waters…too far away to save but not yet dead… So long America, I loved you. Tomorrow Trump will begin to realize that, rather than marking him as a bold leader, withdrawing from the Paris Accord has earned him the scorn of technology and industry leaders, and spawned yet another massive tide of resentment. His cabinet and advisers, deeply divided over the issue, will become even less of an effective team.

Yeah, I shouldn’t have said, “purely” - the more I read of his speech, the more the driving trollies aspect comes to the fore. (Apparently he went into the European talks pissed off at the EU because he felt they made it difficult for him to build golf courses there.) Not just a strike at Macron but all of Europe, which he sees as “laughing at him” (because they are).
I was also reading that there was a war among the staff in trying to win him over on this - the winning side apparently used information that was outdated/disproven/just wrong to make their case. So there’s always multiple factors that go into his decision-making - all horrible.

He ran as a populist. He actually could make some populist choices, counter to the GOP line, and get away with it, being plugged in to his base as he is. And he’d be applauded by his base (really all he has to do is tell his base to applaud and they’ll applaud).
But on every issue he goes full Paul Ryan/Mitch McConnell/Mike Pence. “No puppet no puppet?” Yes puppet yes puppet.
