Tim Hunkin is a marvelous long-time instructor of electro-mechanical gadget culture and cartoonist! (wikipedia) Particularly amusing and well plotted were his The Secret Life of Machines TV series c1980-90s. Then later his Secret Life of Components youtube series which those of us who find mechanical engineering a challenge found particularly delightful.

Coincidentally I was just watching the episode on washing machines. In it he laments the decline in machine quality in favour of economy, and the amount of machinery going to landfill. Quite astute for the 1980’s
