The NOAA webpage uses the color rgb(122,14,127) or #7a0e7f, near #800080 which is the web standard for purple but still not far from #8b008b which is the web standard for dark magenta. The pantone color you posted is #e3007a so has a lot more red than blue, more like web deep pink. These aren’t really as well-defined words as you’re implying.
And after magenta, then what?
