Any bets R is going to cry fabricated foul over duplicate ballots between the damaged and replacement?

OH man, that guy is toast. You don’t fuck with the USPS…

Damn straight. They’re even the ones who took down Steve Bannon, for some reason. Boarded his yacht on the high seas like badasses.

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes

Man, Ad. Fontes really missed the chance to become a nominatively determined historian!

I’m sure someone is already crafting a story that this was a false flag operation done to provide cover for sending out duplicate ballots to Democrats so they can vote twice.

Makes me feel glad that I took our ballots to the post office and deposited though an indoor mail slot.

I’m not in Phoenix, but I am in Maricopa county.

This is one of the reasons I take mine to the dropbox at city hall. If anyone tries to mess with it the cops will be all over them in a matter of minutes.

He’s just an amateur. Professionals fuck with the USPS at the other end of the organisation.

Can you trust the mayor?

We directly drop ours off at our post office.

Ok ok, this story is missing that the guy did it for attention, trying to get arrested. He has an arrest history and is obviously suffering some issues.

I’m certain that the GOP is looking to find any number of reasons to put their thumb on the scale, but in this case it appears to be just a person crying out for help in an admittedly strange way.

The great thing about stochastic terrorism is the ideas will take root in people who are already prone to criminal acts first, so there’s never proof they wouldn’t have done it without your suggestions. Only statistics hints at the real damage. :man_shrugging:

That was before De Joy. He’s probably cheering this on.

A kid I new was driving a campus shuttle and had to choose between hitting the mailbox or hitting a jaywalker. He chose the mailbox, but later swore it would have been WAY less hassle if he’d hit the pedestrian. This should be worked into all future Trolley Problem hypothetical dilemmas.

In Maryland, ballot drop boxes are only placed in locations with camera surveillance. Mailboxes are left all over the place. I put my ballot in a drop box in part because I don’t count on DeJoy’s post office to get my ballot delivered on time, tho the extra security, as minimal as it is, is an added reason to prefer drop boxes. Oh, and the slot to put your ballot in the dropbox is MUCH smaller than the mailbox opening, so it limits the size of any devices etc.

They have become rather toothless. The number of mail box break ins, assaults on postal workers, robbery and vandalism to mail boxes is sharply on the rise.

Interesting that these boxes have built-in fire suppression systems. But apparently one of them didn’t activate.

I wonder what kind of incendiary device was used? My own local ballot drop-off box seems faily well-sealed and has a narrow, spring-closed slot for inserting ballots. I would guess that it would be tricky to put a simple, crude burning object through that, and if someone did manage to do that it might burn itself out relatively quickly due to the limited air supply. But I hope I don’t find out!
