Making, Crafting, Creating... aka Whatcha workin' on?

Yet Another Pi Case. This one is for riding in my backpack. The Altoids can is where three 2000 mAh cells will go, which should run it for over eight hours. (I’ll probably put the cells in the Altoids can. One less trigger for ignorant gawkers: “OMG! It’s a box with lights and wires and three purple cylinders!”)

I gave the box a wipe with the dregs of the stain using a decaying foam brush. It either looks rustic or like I was eating a melting chocolate bar. The oval cutout has a pane of glass in it. Tempered, I hope.

Just turned a vintage volt meter into a portable amp.

Final product. Refreshing, with a hint of banana flavor and coriander. Nice mouthfeel.

The Altoid 6000 mA/h power pack is live! Hopefully it should power the project for up to 8 hours, but I suspect the high-gain TP-Link WN-822N WiFi adapter in server mode might cut into that.

It turns out that the WiFi adapter can’t be powered by a Pi2 USB port, but a Pi3 port can. So, it’s time to do a Pi-swap with my PiCrate project, which will be a pain due to all the display jumpers that have to be unplugged/replugged. sigh

  • :white_check_mark: Mediawiki installed.
  • :white_check_mark: WiFi hotspot configured.
  • :white_check_mark: High-gain WN-822N driver installed. (See here.)
  • Pi-swap.
  • Tests for battery duration.
  • Tests for range with high-gain antenna and with dish addition.
  • Final loadup of Wiki.
  • Field test: Operation Wet Spot.

I’m hoping for the field test sometime next week, but I’ll have see how it goes.

I decided to add a couple of touches to the amp.

What’s the circuit? Got a schematic? I’ve made several small guitar amps using the Ruby design. In fact I think there’s one in this thread, ^^^ way up there.

I actually just had a kit that included the major components of the amp so it was mostly a matter of soldiering them together and turning the old volt meter case into a housing.

My duaghter (4yo) and I collaborated on the LadyGoose’s mother’s day card. We made some paper dolls capturing her heroic traits. My daughter named them "“Warrior Chef,” “Flower Princess” and “Spider Catcher”

Good news: my repair job on the roof of the shed appears to have been effective.

Bad news: that doesn’t stop the water blowing in through the holes in the walls.

New shed floor:

One small truckload of roadbase gravel. It needs a few days to dry out, but it should eventually pack down almost as hard as concrete.

Made a pedalboard today with Tachin_Jr
I had some pine boards laying around from another project, I had stained them but they were left outside for some time.

Glued and screwed a frame

First part finished.

Got some velcro from the home depot

A few pedals, waiting for a delay pedal and left space for another project I’m working on, I’m going to touch up some of the more visible blemishes and get some new patch cables to tidy up the wiring.

This would be a lot easier if I had a proper workbench already. :slightly_smiling_face:

It looks like the test is tomorrow. Perfection is the enemy of progress, but the calendar is the enemy of both. So it’s tomorrow, or forget it until the fall.

Just finished a gift for a relative, who is graduating from high school this weekend and will be studying computer science come fall. I first thought of doing a BSOD or a terminal window, but knew I’d get bored doing so many blue or black stitches.

ETA Made this for myself a few months ago.
