Seems like it’s be much harder to build/make a closed aquatic ecosystem vs a terrestrial one but I’ve been fascinated with these. I recall reading of a famous one where someone made one inside a giant glass bottle and it’s survived for years closed

My kid brought home a sealed container from school with pebbles, water, and some plants in it, not nearly as well-equipped as a Winogradsky column. I set it in a window, and it’s still green and growing since January of 2018, according to the label. I have yet to break the seal.
