“pocket battery” = battery pack that will not fit in a pocket, it has a belt slot on the back and made of a thick cardboard/paperboard.

The next page is a whiskey ad featuring a man in a diaper shooting things; he looks even more ridiculous than the radioheads, and probably shouldn’t have had so much to drink before going hunting. Next page is the debonair Bob Hope holding a paper tube that is on fire, and an inset of a farmer dapper in a fedora, which I’m sure looks right at home while tilling the back 50.
I would happily pay $7.95 for a pith-helmet tube radio.
