Prison? Not a Mental Hospital? FFS.
Maybe there was something in his testimony that made it clear that he was just taking the piss with his “defense” and it wasn’t an honestly held delusion. But I suspect even that hypothetical is giving the system too much credit.
If I was in the woods I’d be more afraid of drunken catfish noodlers than Bigfoot any day of the week.

There are people who seriously believe that the Earth is flat, and that Bigfoot exists. JMHO: I don’t think that those beliefs warrant admittance to a mental hospital since such beliefs more likely indicate extreme gullibility and/or stupidity.
“Most” requires proof… but likely “a significant portion”.
