Strictly speaking he did not de-seed it. There were still quite a few seeds present among the chopped slices.

If you’re not concerned about seeds going everywhere, then sure. Me, I like to make sure everything stays attached to the core. I’ll spare the 5 extra seconds, and the need to pay a company to give me a plaque saying I did something no one else has paid them to record yet.
