This idea that the US is “divided” is a myth.
One side being completely intransigent and childish doesn’t impugn both sides.

I don’t think “divided” necessarily implies both sides are equally wrong. We were a divided country in the 1860s but everyone agreeing to meet somewhere in the middle wouldn’t have been the right resolution then either.
The divide is real. The equivalency being made between the two sides of that divide is not.
