I’d love the chance to see that - particularly to work out what’s the story with the animated soft toy at the 30 second mark,
I think it’s from “Light of the Darkness” by Dusan Marek.
I went on Saturday, it was a truly phenomenal exhibit. It absolutely knocked down all the narrowly limited western European art history walls that had been put up around the movement and that i had been versed in until then. Of special amazing interest to me were the paintings by Mexican and Puerto Rican artists as well as the longevity of the movement, with works spanning many more decades than the standard Dali / Magritte era i’m pretty sure we all were inculcated to believe was the only scope of the surrealists.
