Stomach it? Any show about defeating beatniks or hippies has my name all over it!

Indeed. I’m all for showing those dirty hippies as the carriers of disease that they are.

Get Smart was one of my regular shows (I’m 62 now) at that time, and I remember the Groovy Guru episode vividly if not accurately. It was dumb to me even then, but fun. Amazing to see that show, let alone that episode, referenced today in any context! I was a kid geek, ham radio, electronics, piano and chemical photography. Acid, TM and self-realization (and college) still lay far ahead, but I enjoyed the episode.

Hmm. “Kill Kill Kill” actually sounds relatively contemporary compared with The Twizzle. Granted, it’s a ridiculous song, but it’s believable that someone would come up with similar music in earnest. On the other hand, the horn line in The Twizzle is a good 15 years out of date.

LSD is the bomb.

Is that like, “college is a fountain of wisdom and the students are there to drink”?

And the punk episode of CHiPs… and 21 Jump Street… and the after school punk specials… And all the day time TV shows, with the Parents of Punkers organization (led by Serena Dank)… The list of punk getting bad press goes on and on!

I watched this episode as a rerun at some point in the 70s with my fam. when I was around 8 or 9. My brother, sister, and I thought it was awesome and we actually sang bits of this Sacred Cows song for years since we thought it was hilarious.

When I was in HS, we briefly named our terrible punk band The Quincy Punks after that episode. But then we changed to SPAM.

I’m pretty sure after that episode every town had a punk band named after it! How could you not? It’s too perfect.

Excellent find! While we’re there…

Several generations of portraying youth culture as brain washing and rabble rousing instead of celebrating it as legitimate criticism = FUCKING TRUMP.
