Measles outbreak sends 800 Washington students home

I wouldn’t count on it. Check out the story in Huffington Post about the 6-year-old unvaccinated boy who got tetanus after cutting himself. He spent 57 days in the hospital, 40 of which were spent in intensive care. His hospital bill was $800k. He was given the first of two tetanus vaccinations, but his parents refused the second. Yes, they refused. After watching what their child went through (he was placed in a medically induced coma), they still won’t vaccinate.

They’d be surprised at how much authority a regional health officer has in a declared medical emergency. (Assuming the old laws are still on the books.)

Hopefully they never find out the hard way.
