Mike Pompeo: "There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration"

Certainly.

Yes, I thought so as well.

They may not have a mandate from you, but the idea that a 60 to 40 result isn’t a mandate from most of the country would seem counter to your being annoyed by so many people saying it is. Which is certainly your prerogative. But subjectively most people seem to disagree with your opinion on what constitutes a mandate from the American people.

And don’t forget that an all out civil war/total anarchy won’t be good for the market, and we know who really owns these guys…

My teevee just said that the last time a candidate beat a sitting incumbent in a Presidential election by as many votes as Biden beat Trump?

1932 when FDR trounced Hoover.

In addition to being an ass, he is toeing the line drawn by his boss(es). They are not going to recognize the election results until the highest court in the land has told them to. Let’s just hope that happens soon.

It’s unlikely to even get to that point; so far, the unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud have been laughed out of every court…

And for some reason fraudulent votes or attempted fraudulent votes have been attributed to republicans. :man_shrugging:

Weird, right?

…and smudge the (literal) hell outta the entire jernt w/sage and sulfur, and a few gallons of Cast Off Evil oil would be great. Various flavors of exorcisms would hardly be amiss, neither.

I just can’t wait to see the backs of all those seditious, treasonous bastards.

I’m feeling two realities at the same time:

  1. trump is attempting a coup by refusing his loss, and acting like he’s not going anywhere, republicans are backing him up, and he’s going to elevate his meritless law suits till one of his judges serves him, and if not he’ll call his militias to intimidate people and cause havoc.

  2. dumbass trump has no big plan and is just following his ego, the rest of the republicans are just going along to woo trumps stupid voters, and hell - a chance to troll all the snowflakes that hey we are going to take over america

Please stop legitimizing the idea that the supreme court is supposed to weigh in on who gets to be president. There’s no case there.

There will be a smooth blowing of warm air up Trump’s keester by Mike Pompeo.

To what degree do you guys think this posturing is more about raising money through legal funds etc. than an actual half-assed coup attempt?

Asked today about the administration’s transition plans following Joe Biden’s victory in last week’s presidential election, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said “There will be a smooth transition, to a second Trump administration.”

Also, let’s not forget…Pompeo learned at the knee of the Kochs. Trump may be his boss, but the Kochs are his masters. They are the ones behind the curtain.

I’m not “legitimizing” anything and I did not say or even imply that there is a case there. Simply talking about something doesn’t mean agreement with it.

Trump said as early as Nov 4 that he would be going to the Supreme Court. That’s the way he rolls, in case four+ years of his bullshit hadn’t sunk in yet. All it takes is paying lawyers to keep pressing the same losing arguments on appeal after appeal. That’s one thing he’s actually good at. And the Republicans are all over this.

The Supreme Court is supposed to decide valid legal questions that come before it on appeal. If those questions are germane to the issue of who will be president then so be it. The court has ruled in many election-related cases in the past and has even decided an election. Over the last two weeks the Supremes have ruled in five cases just on this election. In Bush v. Gore a majority conservative Supreme Court halted recounts in Florida that could have made Gore president (or not - we’ll never know).

Believing that Trump et al won’t go to the Supreme Court if we refrain from discussing it seems overly hopeful.
