I’m glad there is no scoring mechanism, I recognized maybe 1/4 of the images. I think that’s “ignoramus” tier.
May I bring to your attention another wonderful Oscar short film winner, from 1989, called Balance. This one, imho is even better
That was really cool! Not claymation, though - no clay involved, just two-dimensional painting. She calls the animation technique “clay painting” so I can see the confusion.
She says each step is painted on the previous one, and in the end she’s left with just one painting. Is the final result three inches thick? How long do you think she waits between alterations?
I like very much that it ended with Guston.
There’s a similar segment in Naqoyqatsi, but I believe procedurally generated.

If she worked with artists oil paint (which takes a long time to dry), I’d think then she would have had sufficient time to remove paint as needed (merely using cloth or another brush) between each step.
