Somewhere, there’s an executive at Facebook with an MBA who is screaming at their underlings, “I don’t care if they’re traitors, cannibals, or serial killers: I will see that eyeballs sold to advertisers number go up or you’re all fired!” So long as they can point to numbers going up, he/she/it won’t be fired and they get their bonus. Hey, they need another herbal jaccuzi for the new vacation home, and all those alimony payments won’t pay themselves.
