I saw one of their SUV’s the other day. It was pretty sweet looking. And didn’t veer uncontrollably into oncoming traffic. So they have that going for them.
Stories like this make me wonder if the Ford Escape is still out there, setting recall records…
At least they got the name right!
Filed under: “That’ll buff right out!”
Ooopsies.
The poor Honda didn’t do anything to deserve that fate.
Yeah, those were introduced in an opt-in trial years ago, but I’ve never actually seen one in the wild because they’re expensive and pointless. There are probably some people who don’t mind paying an extra $20 a month to have cutting-edge digital plates on their car, but nobody that I know is excited about that prospect.
Costs
- $2.6 – $4 million per average-sized commercial wind turbine
Back of the envelope calculation - roughly 40 million homes powered by clean energy right there. Or 28% of the country?
It’s not about the costs…
Step 1: promises, promises
Step 2: stock market magic
Step 3: profit!
And/or millions of EVs charged by clean energy.
They could have not wasted $100 billion. Made money on the money they flushed down to toilet by investing in renewables- and pretty much exceeded climate change goals for 20 years from now already.
Remind me again why people think they’re geniuses? Because they look stupid as fuck.
Delta Air Lines throws $60m at flying taxi startup Joby Aviation
The fledgling flying taxi industry has been given another vote of confidence with a $60 million investment from US airline Delta in Joby Aviation.
The sum will give Delta a 2 percent stake in Joby, which counts Uber Technologies among its investors, with the potential to grow to $200 million if the service reaches certain development milestones.

Per the article, this concept vehicle has a “1940s-inspired exterior”…
…but I think it has a 1930s-inspired exterior. Observe the 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport:
There is no good place on that car for a front license plate. I know that designers like the freedom of creating concept cars without being limited by real-world regulations and such, but this is an issue that bleeds over to production cars as well.
See? You illustrated exactly what I was talking about. The plate completely blocks two lights with that placement.
I definitely see the Alfa Romero influence but the streamlined body shape is also reminiscent of the custom-built “Belly Tank Racers” that started showing up in the late 40s when gearheads started getting their hands on surplus airplane drop tanks.
I’m looking up lawyers that handle car concept design foul-ups right now.
