I was once sentenced to 6 hours in a courthouse for riding my bike on a [completely empty] sidwalk [to avoid being run over by a bus pulling into a bus stop]. Well, not explicitly sentenced, but it turns out that a summons basically sentences you to 6 hours waiting to “plead guilty” and pay your fine with the open container/public urination crowd…

When you put it that way…waiting in governmental offices does seem like a jail sentence we’ve all endured!

Preach it. I once had a very bad time involving an ill-advised chillum and an eight-hour wait in a Jobcentre in Somerset…
