Mueller subpoenas Trump Organization, demands Russia documents

That paper is all from yellow legal pads. Right?

Manafort’s federal trial doesn’t start until September. So I’d expect the overall investigation to continue at least until late August, if not continuously.

Manafort’s also up for a state trial in July on separate charges. Basically he’s hosed.

He’s scheduled to retire in less than a week, anyway.

Seems kinda clear to me. If you ask and they say no you then have to go get a subpoena and have given them time to get rid of what you’ve asked for.

Yeah, but for some reason the attorney general never bothered to press obstruction of justice charges. As far as I can tell, this is not reality anymore.

Picture, if you will, an aging man whose life tale is, as Macbeth said, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. This is the story of such a man. A small man whose hands could barely grasp a sippy cup. This is the story of one Donald J Trump. You’re now moving into a land of both shadow and lack of substance, of things but no ideas. You’ve just crossed over into the Trumplight Zone.

Mueller subpoenaing for these documents could mean he already has them, or the same information from other sources.

If so, this would mean that if the Trump org skips some information, they would be open to further charges for violating the subpoena.

No pension if he’s fired, apparently.

“I think that’s a violation. Look, this is about Russia,” he said.

Yes, and all the Russian money you borrowed when reputable banks in the West stopped lending to your grifting arse.

I love this quote from Mr. T:

I think about my father being called ‘boy’, my uncle being called ‘boy’, my brother, coming back from Vietnam and being called ‘boy’. So I questioned myself: “What does a black man have to do before he’s given the respect as a man?” So when I was 18 years old, when I was old enough to fight and die for my country, old enough to drink, old enough to vote, I said I was old enough to be called a man. I self-ordained myself Mr. T so the first word out of everybody’s mouth is “Mr.” That’s a sign of respect that my father didn’t get, that my brother didn’t get, that my mother didn’t get.

If he’s fired before Sunday the 18th of March, he loses his pension from 20 years of government service. (Unless it is reinstated later or something.) A real dick move.

“The breadth of the subpoena was not clear, nor was it clear why Mr. Mueller issued it instead of simply asking for the documents from the company,…”

Could be because evidence of the company destroying documents would be dealt with as being less serious (to some) if only a simple request for the documents had been made. A subpoena, though, is serious business.

LATEST: Just got back from reading the full CNN report, it stating that the Trump organization has been handing over docs per requests, but …

“… the source who spoke to CNN on Thursday said the subpoena’s intention was to “clean up” and to ensure that all related documents are handed over to the special counsel.”

Perhaps expected docs were missing?

Exactly so. Destroying requested documents may or may not be legal, depending on the documents in question and the circumstances, but destroying subpoenaed documents is damn sure a felony. It leaves no “wriggle room”.

Meh. It’s not unreasonable for any professional to be concerned about losing their pension, days before it’s vested. It would likely mean he’d be working in some BS job to top off Social Security, until his death.

That’s not how this works. They can investigate anything criminal that stems from the original investigation.

It’s like a prosecutor ignoring the discovery you may have committed a murder while bringing up unrelated charges of fraud. “Oh, well that wasn’t in the scope of my investigation, so whatevs! :man_shrugging:

That would be considered recycling, and you know how much he hates environment. He’d be more likely to photocopy all the evidence and then shred that instead.
