I believe this is a big step towards what’s called a “database of ruin” scenario, where far, far too much gets aggregated into one place, so much so that the database begins to take on a kind of critical mass, hoovering up more and more info until anyone who can access it’s controls, can ruin anyone else.


Doctorow calling something Fail is a bit rich.

Would it not simply be easier for companies like Youtube and Facebook to suspend all service to EU countries? I mean, it would be the death of the Internet in Europe, but the Internet itself would survive.
