I think it won’t matter if it reaches his desk if he helps pack the judiciary with even more anti-abortion judges. Biden cares enough about Roe that when the streets are filled with daily protests over the right finally taking the swing they’ve been lining up, that he sides with the right.
So you’re mad at Biden for siding with the right now, but not mad at Manchin and Sinema for siding with the right all along?
I’m mad at them as well, but they aren’t alone in this. It isn’t like they are alone in stopping all progress, just like Lieberman wasn’t in his time. I’m just unwilling to give the rest of the party leadership a pass when even in the cases where Manchin and Sinema have no power, they still don’t do the right thing.
Maybe give them a chance to vote, see how they actually vote and then judge them for that.
And let’s see if the Chad Meredith nomination actually happens first. A lot has changed since that was being discussed.
So much this.
In my opinion, what is paralyzing the Democrats is corruption. If they couldn’t get fat checks from oil companies and telcos, watch how fast they’d care what their constituents want them to care about.
I’m not a member of either (any, actually) party. Until a couple of years ago, neither was my wife. At that time, she became a Democrat because she wanted to participate more directly in the election.
Within a week of her becoming a Party member, I started receiving texts from Democratic candidates asking for money. Invariably, these texts always start with “Hello, Mrs. Murgatroyd! …” or something similar, and go on to talk about how my “past commitment to the cause” has been much appreciated.
I never gave my phone number to anyone, and my wife gave only hers when she registered. As best we can tell, someone in the Party hierarchy managed to find my number because it’s on the same account as hers at our mobile provider, and added it to the list.
I text a “STOP” reply, and then forward the text to my mobile provider’s “spam text” number. I know that neither of these will have any effect, but I feel better.
But real PBS stations give us… PBS. This is more like a PBS station that doesn’t broadcast a signal.
The thing is, trans rights would be exceptionally easy to codify with Roe. It would be difficult to exclude trans rights while writing legislation to protect every person’s right to receive medical treatment without the state butting in.
I completely agree with you.
Not to mention tote bags and complete sets of the Rick Steves Travels on DVD.
The DNC collects money to figure out how to more efficiently collect money.
I wish the DNC could come up with something more than putting their hand out and asking for money without a plan for how to move forward rather than winging it and letting serendipity take the wheel.
It’s almost like they didn’t WANT to remove the issue from the table…
