Nebraska State Senator proposes constitutional amendment to allow corporations to create tiny, sovereign nations with no laws, taxes or rules

As with Republican Jesus, I think Republicans have just decided to work off of their own idea of what’s in the Constitution. To be fair, it’s a lot simpler:

Article I
Congress will obediently do as they’re told by the president, unless he’s a Democrat.

Article II
The president can do whatever he wants, unless he’s a Democrat.

Article III
Only Republican presidents are allowed to nominate Supreme Court justices. The duty of the courts is to uphold Republican ideology.

Article IV
States can do as they please, unless a Republican disagrees with it.

Article V
The Constitution is perfect and unerring, and therefore does not need amending.

Article VI
You have to swear on the Bible!

First Amendment
People are allowed to say whatever they want, as long as a Republican agrees with it. Christianity is the only true religion, and people are free to practice it. Protests are great, as long as they’re in other countries.

Second Amendment
:gun:

I think that about covers it…

What could possibly go wrong?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Not quite.

4th Amendment
Unreasonable searches and seizures aren’t allowed. Unless you’re liberal, foreign looking, or non-white. You don’t have anything to hide, right?

5th Amendment
You can’t be compelled to incriminate yourself. Unless you’re liberal, foreign looking, or non-white. You don’t have anything to hide, right?

6th Amendment
You have the right to a speedy trial. If you’re liberal, foreign looking, or non-white, we’ll do everything we can to make it extra speedy!

8th Amendment
The government isn’t allowed to set unreasonable bail or fines unless you’re liberal, foreign looking, or non-white.

9th Amendment
Republicans know what’s good for you.

10th Amendment
See Article IV

13, 14, 15, 19, 23, 24, and 26th Amendments
Repealed!

18th Amendment
Reinstated (unless you’re Republican)

The 16th and 17th amendments are the subject of much Republican criticism too.

What would be the difference between one of these zones and an Indian reservation? They seem legally analagous. If reservations function reasonably well, then maybe one of these zones might work. It might make a great place for a commune. (apologies if my question is answered in the article. My Privacy Badger settings triggered the adblock detection on the article and I can’t read it).

Because corporations always know best when it comes to behaving in the best interests of those who work for them, their customers and the community in which they operation. /s

They are illegal at the federal level. They just can’t be enforced by feds except on federal properties and lands, and in certain other circumstances, like in connection with another crime that is enforceable on non-federal lands.

Fun fact: just about every federal department has a police force, and in Washington DC, which is a federal territory, most of them can write you a parking ticket

You missed out “as long as a Republican agrees with it”. Christian socialism and anarchism is heresy to them.

No laws, taxes, or rules

So, in addition to no business law… no electricity, sewage, Internet, police, firefighting, environmental protection, worker safety?

Sounds like a great opportunity for new business to sprout up!

Speaking as a Libertarian, I think that’s an excellent idea.
