Absolutely. I fell in love with your country during a recent trip, but also know how delicate the balance of things can be; even a color choice can look like colonialism. Tricky stuff, flags.

It was only a means of taking attention off the TTP and other crap that Key’s National government has pulled. From their point of view it probably was money well spent.

So there’s no new New Zealand flag. How about a flag for New New Zealand?
Looks like they copied the Australians
As I understand it, NZ’s flag predates Oz’s flag.
Too many of the designs looked like corporate logos.
Also, you’re asking an entire nation to agree on an artistic matter of taste-- somebody’s always going to be disappointed. At least with the old flag you grew up with it and are used to it.
