…
This is absolutely going on my watch list. And if you are ever in Memphis, do yourself a huge favor and go to the Stax Museum. It’s great.
I watched this, despite knowing very little about Stax or the music they produced; which is odd, given that one of their earlier successes was producing music for Otis Redding. Ironic, considering Otis Redding is one of my favorite musicians.
I blame my ignorance on being born too late (1972) to appreciate Stax’s impact on popular music as a whole and Black music in particular. By the time I came of age, they were long gone.
I wholeheartedly recommend the documentary to any and everyone.
This reminds me I want to try and track down and watch Wattstax again.
Cool.
My mom still played hella old Stax 45’s when I was growing up, along with all her Motown LPs; I will definitely give this doco a gander.

Wow, a non-engagement bait post from ‘Loy’; this is progress!
