New York sues to dissolve NRA over "brazen" corruption

This is the last thing the RNC proper wants. It’s much easier to fight the enemy you know. A dissolved DNC would release people to form an actual progressive party and break up the corporate relationships that the DNC has fostered over the decades.

Riven is not actually a typo. Though its use here is not aligned with its common meaning (divided - angrily or violently). Riddled was probably what was meant.

I think the NRA attorneys will just make the argument that a Democrat AG would like to dissolve an organization that donates millions of dollars to Republican campaigns, and lobbies against Democrat causes.

The fact that they actually do those two things nullifies her argument that the endeavor exists only to defraud, and gives cause to suspect her intent is political. If she had handled it with criminal charges, they couldn’t say that, but she is talking about getting rid of the organization completely.

Bad call all around.

I wonder if Maria Butina will cover this story on ‘Beautiful Russia boo-boo-boo’ on the RT?

They can try to politicise it, but I’m sure the NY and DC AGs have a lot of hard evidence on the corruption of the organisation under discussion in the case.

I don’t think they’re doing this just for fun. State AGs have limited resources and generally choose cases they’re confident they can win. Anyhow, we’ll see how it plays out.

They should join the SRA instead. They actually care about the rights of human people. Not giant corporations like colt.

As much as I’m glad to see the NRA get the shaft, when they teased the press conference where it was announced, I was hoping they were going after a much bigger whale.

WOW, I was completely ignorant of that organization. Really interesting.

A third of the SRA’s 3,000 members identify as LGBTQ and 8 percent are transgender.

It probably is not going to help the state’s case that the people who were defrauded remain some of the NRA’s biggest defenders.

It is hard for me to see any positive reaction to:

“Because a few executives committed malfeasance, we are going to dissolve the organization you paid to be a member of and which is actively supporting your political goals.”

I hope she has some massive secret tactic here, otherwise it’s over before it starts.

They don’t sell tee shirts?!?! How is that a thing?

They are socialists. They don’t see the necessity in capitalistic money-making schemes.

Plus commercial apparel is super exploitative.

True, though tee shirts are a good way to spread the message. I have opened up a lot of good conversations with people who have asked about the shirt I am wearing.

I was just about to ask!

So why aren’t mega-churches being dissolved, too. Same graft, different cult.

Should we be sending the NRA our thoughts and prayers?

Anyone?

Just don’t rip off other wealthy people and you’re free and clear.

I got a feeling this comes from the corporate donors that’s paid handsomely for the NRA over the years and the recent news over the last year that the NRA some how is nearing insolvency. I suspect the corporate donors are pissed about the situation enough to be the ones giving the AG the info in question. This isn’t a typical case I think. I suspect the NRA will fold for sure.

That’s if such a progressive party has the means to pursue power and keep it.
