Most of the time, I am proud to be a member of this community. When threads like this come along and I see these kinds of comments posted, not so much.

It makes me very sad as well. I’ve read through all the responses, and there is a disconnect that I can’t decipher, that I can’t understand. It is simply not okay to casually lob mental health idioms/diagnoses at anyone regardless of our opinions.

I don’t give a rat’s ass about Trump, or, at least, no more than the absolute basic level of compassion that one human being should have for another (which seems to be more than a lot of people have for him). He could disappear off the planet, and I’d just feel slightly sad that he didn’t realize the pain he had caused and become a decent person before he died.

This is lovely, truly. And it reminds me of Michelle Obama’s speech at the DNC: “They go low, we go high.” We’re better than this, and we hopefully have the vocabulary at our disposal. Unreasonable, incoherent, biased, absurd, illogical, irrational, preposterous … these all apply without stooping to “loon.”
