It makes me very sad as well. I’ve read through all the responses, and there is a disconnect that I can’t decipher, that I can’t understand. It is simply not okay to casually lob mental health idioms/diagnoses at anyone regardless of our opinions.
This is lovely, truly. And it reminds me of Michelle Obama’s speech at the DNC: “They go low, we go high.” We’re better than this, and we hopefully have the vocabulary at our disposal. Unreasonable, incoherent, biased, absurd, illogical, irrational, preposterous … these all apply without stooping to “loon.”
It’s effort best spent elsewhere, but so is arguing about arguing on Internet messageboards versus tangible action. Countercirclejerks, all the way down.
