I’m not seeing the nightmare fuel here: a snek chilling out in its leisurely mechanized perambulation tube is significantly less mobile and/or motivated looking than one slithering around or curled up and ready to move decisively when it chooses.
Sort of like describing a mall cop on a segway as a nightmarish human/wheel hybrid, rather than just unthreatening and slightly silly.
