This is Haley trying on the role of cynical plantation owner, attempting to wield poor, low-information white men like a hammer to increase and enhance her power and wealth. They have as much to gain from supporting her as they did supporting plantation owners during the Civil War, which is fuck all. How surprising that she makes no effort at all to persuade persons of color that the Republican party has something to offer them. And feels comfortable alienating them with rhetoric like this. It’s almost as if she knows their votes (or attempts to vote) won’t matter.

Maybe we should try a different tactic to educate Trumpists on the true meaning of that flag by explaining that the people who marched under it were conducting a campaign of “Presidential harassment” against the Republican in the White House.

Why is everybody so upset about this? She’s not wrong, it did, in fact symbolize (forced, inescapable) service, (forced, inevitable) sacrifice, and heritage (of owning other humans who were forced to serve and sacrifice).

This is the thing about her that baffles me. Does she really think that she will be excepted from the purge as the party gets whiter and more xenophobic? Even if she sees herself as “one of the good ones,” her complexion and background (let alone gender) will always make her suspicious to the base.
