Of course. The New York Times has a backup plan to become the dictator’s house organ.
But the propaganda ministry will just disappear them and take it over.

The NewsMax Times?
Looking at the NYT’s coverage of Biden, I’d say they disagree with you there.
They SHOULD call a fascist a fascist, though. Informing the public IS part of their responsibility and calling out dangers to democratic processes should always be top of the list of shit that matters. But the NYT has always had a REAL problem with that.
If the American public still votes for Trump knowing he intends to destroy democracy and dismantle their rights, newspapers have done their job. If they vote for him without knowing that, newspapers have failed.
To report the news accurately, not to marginalize, trivialize or dilute it.
I’ll take “What is the most prestigious journalism award and who is it named for” for $800, Alex.
Joseph Pulitzer, an immigrant from Eastern Europe, founded several major American newspapers.
Although he championed the First Amendment guarantees of freedom of the press throughout his professional life and was a passionate advocate for accuracy in reporting, he is perhaps best known for going to journalistic extremes.
The World’s investigative reporting involving the Panama Canal led to a battle with President Theodore Roosevelt and a groundbreaking U.S. Supreme Court decision in 1911 that blocked the government from suppressing freedom of the press by pursuing criminal charges for libel.
So not only did the namesake of the journalism award strive for accuracy, his papers were also well known to go toe-to-toe with presidents.
They agree with you.
That battle was lost at least 200 years ago.
Polls are medias’ “Mcguffin”, but with the “device” (of questionable value) being only one of many necessary to help further the characters’ (medias’) motives.
And everybody knows that the NYT is located at 620 Eighth Avenue in Manhattan.
Actual polls of voters’ concerns do not match the NYT’s priorities, so it is more a case of “Their coverage of news is based on how they imagine topics would poll”.
I seem to remember a recent Tom the Dancing Bug entry that had “One day in January, 2025, in the New York Times newsroom” in the first goddamn panel.
Political pundits looking to quote the “paper of record”. Not a lot of money here.
Games. They’re a game subscription company. There’s apparently money in Wordle.
