deep breath
Man…that was…dizzying. My lungs hurt. Thanks, mirror neurons.
How awesome is that DIY helmet-cam rig in the last clip?
When things go wrong, they go very wrong.
Vaya con Dios, dude. I’m impressed by your control, but the thought of trying the same gives me the willies.
When I can hold my breath for fifteen minutes, I’m gonna try this out.
At no point in that video did I think to myself, “Gee, that looks fun!”
Transgressive to be sure. Even though we won’t ever hear about it, someone somewhere will die of autoerotic asphyxiation while watching that video.
I’ve done some basic freediving a couple of times. Once I was following the seabed for a short while and when I looked up, I realised that I had been getting deeper for a bit. Seeing the surface 15-20 m above me was amazing, but there was definitely the parallel thought that this was the moment that I was going to die doing something stupid.
I got passed by a freediver down at about 40m once. It’s just the depth that narcosis starts to kick in and there was a definite “Did we really just see that?!” moment between me and my buddy.
