Oculus execs defend founder's support of Nazi propaganda machine

I think it was the opposite with the R7. Korolyov designed a launcher which couldn’t be hidden, couldn’t be fired on short notice, and could fit a satellite launch in the test program.

Palmer’s never been running the place. He’s not the CEO, chairman, president or anything like that. I’d still like him to leave, but boycotting Oculus has implications elsewhere, driving business towards a company that chooses not to burden itself with inconveniences like ethics or paying all the people who work for them.

The hits back Lucky gets are fair play as class warfare goes.

Big moneypants doesn’t have to care about your opinion, or mine, our ours collectively.

But, being Big moneypants using his dirty pants to sit on us we can feel forced to care about his opinions because he can force his opinions on things that affect us.

So fair game to hit back by affecting the things that can make him care about your opinion, mine, or ours.

Pretending we’re equals in a public context is folly, for us, and jolly, for him.

So fuck him and his weaksauce friends.

Can’t argue with that, but I don’t think it’s a point that applies as often as you’d like it to.

For me that’s the difference between whether it’s hypocrisy or not. To go back a bit:

Praying desperately that a failing fourth estate will do its job? The results might be wildly inconsistent but the strategy is not and neither is someone who follows it. It’s the little guy doing their best with the information they have.

As to the case at hand, I totally agree that more respect could be paid to Godwin around here. I think arguments about who is or isn’t a Nazi is exactly what the shitpost terrorists want. But I do think you’ve been guilty of a false equivalence in this thread; there’s a difference between donating to a political campaign and paying a group to sabotage public discourse.

One is like participating in a BBS debate by liking someone’s posts. The other is more like paying some kids to DDoS the BBS.

This situation is more like: Should we criticize Tor if it made Orson Scott Card its editor-in-chief, then sat in silence as he went Mad Puppy on Reddit?

Piggy was a piece of crap who deserved to get squished like the pig he was.
