Odd and gruesome workplace safety ads that aired on TV

These PSA films are a big influence in the work of both Matt Groening and Devo (the Devo video clips, that is).
Watching flakey PSA films is part of the curriculum at Springfield Elementary.

I used to laugh at the people getting run over by forklift videos. Who the hell can’t get out of the way of a forklift?

Then I did a summer working in a furniture making factory where those things zoom around and 40 miles an hour and I realized one step outside the green “walking lines” and you could easily get killed.

Crazy, I remember seeing these on TV! 2012 was the last year I had cable, I think. I remember thinking then that those ads are really going to drive the point home.

I remember a lot of extremely gruesome driver’s ed videos when I was taking it only 10 years ago.

There was one video where this 20 year old looking german guy crased numerous cars on purpose. Looked like 1970s filmstock. Guy walked all punchy. Didn’t wear a helmet. I’d put good odds on an early death by encephalitis.

Did you see any cobbles?

Those are terrifying.

How about this one with Johnny Cash-alike “3 Finger Joe” instructing you on how to not earn a similar nickname?

Edit: there are also these three videos that apparently have the dubious distinction of having been made by OSHA, then recalled by OSHA for being a trifle too committed to the organizational mission when Reagan’s appointee took the helm.

These are earlier than 2012. Most are from the 1990s, maybe late 80s.
