Oh I know them. We used to have two gorgeous black cats (Bubbles and Sparkles) and when the magpies were doing that to one of them the other would be crouching just around the corner…

Judging by this video, magpies are like the little monkeys here.I saw some of them in Wicklow once with ravens and crows, they seemed very sly.

Definitely, they are evenly matched intelligence wise with the dogs and cats. And just like monkeys they seem to derive great joy from driving their thriving victims absolutely nuts!
Making a dog angry and laughing at them seems to be a priority.
