My son used to keep hermit crabs but could never keep them alive very long. Heād buy one or two, keep them for a while, theyād die, heād buy more.
A coworker had a son about the same age who always liked them, and so at lunch one day I said that he could have the crabs, along with the aquarium they lived in and offered to drop over the lot. That evening when I dropped them off my coworker wasnāt home, but his wife was and so she took the delivery.
At lunch the next day in front of a half dozen other friends I absent-mindedly told him that I gave his wife that case of crabs the day before.
