Just invent Freedom Numbers™. Instead of those terroristic Arabic numbers, count using things like bullets, guns, eagles, crosses, and Jesuses. It’s not 1776, it’s “Jesus with a rifle and a mostly filled crate of ammo.”

Which I guess makes about as much sense as our ridiculous need to keep using imperial (aka Freedom) units to measure things.

The USA do not use the imperial system.
They use the United States customary system (USCS or USC).
Lots of overlap, but significant differences.

Yep - and since USCS is defined referenced to the metric system it’s basically a subset, so technically included, (also with superior bases in some cases not to mention the tasty barleycorns).
