Eugenics joke and fat joke both got called out. Religious beliefs joke was actually funny.
Where else do you comment? I want to imply you’re as bad as the most insane and depraved people who comment there.
Wouldn’t that basically mean that no one is allowed to voice any criticism or negative opinion of anyone else unless and until a person is convicted of a crime? Is there a better way to interpret this?

If you keep punishing someone after they’ve found remorse, you may kill that remorse, and the people you’re beating on may find it fruitful to become martyrs instead.
I’m sure there’s any number of Brown lobbies that would love to have these guys be their anti-environmentalist spokespeople - “we pushed over a rock and we were punished worse than Ted Kennedy was for Chappaquiddick, worse than Barney Frank for having a gay brothel in his house. The hippy green lobby is anti-American and out of control!”
Do we want to make that look like a good option for these chuckleheads? Right now they seem to have been appropriately admonished and appear to want to do better in the future.

Oh, I have my moments of nastiness/snark/comic generalizations. Don’t you fret. I don’t post in many places: here, obviously, maybe Alternet on the rare occasion, but that’s about it. You can scour those threads for evidence of hypocrisy, if you wish. You may find some, I don’t know. I do know that I’ve really been trying to avoid lazy/easy insults in recent times (e.g. not calling out grammar stuff, arguing against ideas rather than people’s appearances/backgrounds/affiliations, etc.) because it just seems so petty and lame. If I’m going to participate, I might as well do so in a genuine/sincere sense.
I’m not averse to edgy/aggressive humor at all. I’m just pointing out a trend in terms of which cows Boingers tend to find sacred and which are ripe for slaughter. Most of us wouldn’t have such a cavalier attitude towards similar comments, if based on suppositions about LGBT people, or Atheists, but apparently it’s just dandy to do so when we assume the victims to be icky obese redneck Christians. I think that trend is unfortunate, and worth examining.
BoingBoing is living proof that the geeks/nerds have “won.” Is this what winning looks like?
