Olympic athlete banned for steroids, blames it on a burrito she ate

Even if it was the burrito, I’d expect an Olympic-class athlete to be following a much more disciplined diet, which possibly would not involve burritos from a street food truck.

The court of arbitration weighed in. They found her explanation to be wanting.

Quite a few four year bans here, but no written opinion in the Houlihan case as of yet.

This is Portland we’re talking about. EVERYTHING is a food truck.

In the interest of full disclosure, I too was recently banned from Olympic competition when I tested positive for steroids that could only have come from eating one of Papasan’s hats.

It would be great to get more details on the test specifics. A lot of work has been done looking at pig products and their effect on nandrolone levels in urine.

Also a lot of work has been done with isotope ratio mass spectrometry to help tease out the source of the nandrolone.

Test specifics could be inconclusive but they could also be over the top obvious that the nandrolone was from a pharmaceutical preparation…

I can’t post a link but search for “doi dta.2958” and look at the analytical science journals link

Should’ve had a V8!

A lot of work has been done by Nike/Bowerman TC to know exactly what can set off a drug test. They could be working extra-hard to avoid those things but instead it looks like they are working at using this information for hiding the drug usage of their athletes.

This kind of thing happens to me all the time. I order a burrito with no sour cream, and you know what I get? Sour cream.

I believe that was the steroid Mansplainol, which has the effect of making you stronger while making everybody else around you more tired.

UCI World Tour (World Ranking during the years in question) would be more appropriate. Contador was a phenomenal one week racer as well.

Yes, will never forget ‘Clenbuterol’. Likely story…
