If you play the game as Lizzie Magie intended, it soon devolves into a barbaric Libertarian ‘utopia’:

  • You get nothing for landing on Free Parking
  • If someone refuses to purchase an unowned property, it immediately goes up for auction

This forces in-play money to drain and makes it extremely hard to build a monopoly. Usually everyone ends up poor.

Those are literally the rules to Parker Bros. Monopoly and used in championship games.

If you like playing Monopoly, you don’t like board games. You like boredom simulators. Get a copy of Ticket to Ride, or Kingdomino, or Mysterium, and actually enjoy an activity with your family. Does anyone ever actually decide to do something everyone in the room hates? Weird.

Hey, I gotta teach my kid to hate capitalism somehow. :smirk:
