Ongoing coronavirus happenings

I’m sure you know this already, but take note if not, @noahdjango:

And of course, comic book day has been pushed back. We’ll see if Record Store day is likewise pushed back (though it’s much further away in June).

Gee. I wonder if Trump will issue any comment regarding this:

It won’t be 3rd for very long. It will surpass Italy to become #1 by 4/1 (aka April Trump Voters’ Day).

“America First” indeed!

https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/a-medical-worker-describes-terrifying-lung-failure-from-covid-19-even-in-his-young-patients

(Originally from Propublica)

“It first struck me how different it was when I saw my first coronavirus patient go bad. I was like, Holy shit, this is not the flu. Watching this relatively young guy, gasping for air, pink frothy secretions coming out of his tube and out of his mouth. The ventilator should have been doing the work of breathing but he was still gasping for air, moving his mouth, moving his body, struggling. We had to restrain him. With all the coronavirus patients, we’ve had to restrain them. They really hyperventilate, really struggle to breathe. When you’re in that mindstate of struggling to breathe and delirious with fever, you don’t know when someone is trying to help you, so you’ll try to rip the breathing tube out because you feel it is choking you, but you are drowning."

Unicorn chaser. You may need them all:

Chest X-ray came back negative. Dr said, “we can’t rule out COVID-19” but didn’t offer a test, which could, you know, rule it out and shit. They came right out and asked for a test, and we’ll see what happens…

It’s no wonder infection numbers are so fucking low. Nobody can get tested without either being famous, near death, or some kind of shibboleth.

That’s terrifying.

Some part of me keeps trying to deny that our leaders really, truly, actually don’t give a flying fuck about us.

See, I don’t have that problem, I’m a Democrat.

I don’t have any leaders.

Fuck.

Someone needs to film a clip of that so it can go viral. That would convince at least a few more dipshits to stay home.

I’ve given up denying it. Here in Hungary they’re still refusing to order stay-at-home or even just a damn curfew (although non-grocery and medical stores are now closed from 3 pm!) They are, however, preparing to suspend parliament for a so-far undisclosed amount of time, likely “until this is over” which will obviously never come. A member of govt was talking about introducing censorship as part of the battle against the virus. We have soldiers and armored vehicles on thet street, supposedly to make people feel safer. Against a virus. Yeah, right.

It’s not that I ever doubted that our leaders are cynical, amoral assholes enough to potentially use a situation like this to strengthen an already almost complete authoritarian rule over a country, but actually seeing it happen is different…

Part of you is Republican?

My first thought was “are they buying nurses, respiratory therapists and maybe an intensivist to run them?” But of course they are. :weary:

Just heard this. Apparently the Stafford Act requires PR and DC to only buy from U.S. companies. Damn…

Yeah - time to break the law and dare them to try and arrest you.
