Really important statement. The population is not capable, in these “pampered”** times, of not being afraid - the “alert and aware” has been filtered out. Here in the UK the govt is now seemingly massaging death numbers, re-categorising etc. Poltical, yes , supporting the “hey, we’re flattening the curve” (despite our every mis-step / diabolical engagement of Project Covfefe) narrative, all the while re-categorising as many deaths as possible under seasonal flu and other respiratory categories - but I think the medical community may assist because they’ve been told - if the population really understand that we’ll throw them under the bus like this, they will riot, loot, rob, rape, burn.

We saw this in London not too long ago, with the “Clapham Riots”. Populations are a damn tinderbox, damnit.

Letting them a dog park named for them? A place where puppers poop, pee, and play? I’m okay with that!

Oh yeah, you’re about a week behind Norway here:

The Norwegian government has gone forward with it plans to prohibit Norwegians from traveling to their beloved holiday cabins known as a hytte . They claim a travel ban is necessary to contain the spread of the Corona virus, and have made hytte trips punishable by fines or even prison.
Despite objections by many owners of Norway’s roughly 440,000 hytter , they can now be punished if they visit property they own outside of their own home municipality.

The big problem seems to be that the little towns where the hytter are located don’t have medical facilities to handle large scale illness (or civil defense facilities to enforce quarantine).

Same in Finland.

The provision of health services in rural areas is based on the number of permanent inhabitants. This means rural communities are ill-equipped to handle a mass arrival of patients.

NY is having a huge issue with decampments. Or rather, Long Island, specifically The Hamptons, having huge problems. The towns out there are small and generally not set up for large populations, but have recently had wealthy NYers descend on them, taking up residence in their summer homes. Some, knowing they have covid, presenting to the local hospital and insisting on being treated there.
