HS (Helsingin Sanomat) visited a food bank in Helsinki’s Kontula suburb on Wednesday, where many of those in line belonged to risk groups, but didn’t keep a safe distance from one another. The food bank serves 150-200 customers daily.
“When your own life is full of problems, such as money and health, it’s difficult to become too concerned about this kind of big news story,” Anne Hietalahti of the Deaconess Foundation told HS.

The irony is that they were most likely swayed by Chinese government propaganda. The internal narrative was that Wuhan authorities messed up the initial phases of the pandemic, but the central authorities heroically parachuted in and did everything right. Li Wenliang is an easy symbol for this.
The idea of the divide between the central authorities and central institutions like the PLA vs the (corrupt, inadequate) local authorities is a pretty strong component of how the government is thought of in China, if not how things actually are.

Defence Minister Antti Kaikkonen said on Thursday afternoon that the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) have received an official request for assistance in enforcing planned restrictions on the border of the Uusimaa region. The government has ordered a halt to most traffic in and out of the heavily populated southern district as of Friday to try to stem the spread of coronavirus.
Kaikkonen told Yle that it is possible that hundreds of military conscripts could begin helping police as early as Friday.
“The FDF has the readiness to begin quite quickly, even tomorrow if need be. Of course the matter still needs to be considered by Parliament,” he said.
“The scale is such that we’re talking about several hundred conscripts. The operation will also require the participation of the FDF’s permanent staff,” Kaikkonen added.
AFAIK Uusimaa will be isolated at midnight friday/saturday.
