I’m not necessarily disagreeing with the gov spending to prepare accelerated production. But I sure hope we’re not putting all our eggs in one basket.

To be fair, that’s pretty standard. Part of the approval process is showing the FDA you can make the product consistently and without impurities. If you add or change production lines after approval, those also need to go through a review and approval.

They’re only thinking this now? From that bus in Wuhan, and various super-spreader events, that’s how I assumed it worked: small spaces, lots of people, little fresh air circulation. Larger droplets from coughs, or from touching surfaces wouldn’t have been enough to account for the spread.
