That took longer than I expected.

we’re not. ive seen glove and mask wearing a bunch overseas, rarely here in the states.

im not sure that gloves, especially cloth gloves would provide much protection. i do kind of wonder about masks, only we’d never be able to get enough to change them out at the needed frequency.

the main thing is us cleaning surfaces, not touching our darn faces, and washing our hands. i find myself doing good with the hand to face thing, only to then unconsciously touch my face with my sleeve. it’s super hard to stop.

on a day like today, honestly, being careful with everything was hard. it was, without exaggerating, the busiest day in the history of the store.

just keeping up with all the people shopping was exceeding difficult. let alone mindful of my own and other people’s behavior.

Just took my temp again a few minutes ago, and it looks like it was indeed a side effect of the shots, since I’m down to 98.0°F at this point. On Tuesday it was 97.1°.

ETA: After seeing @FGD135’s link about sepsis, I’m fervently glad I went and got my shots!

Here in Poland staff of grocery stores started wearing gloves yesterday. In my town’s supermarket everything is bought out already, so today we went to neighboring town that’s even smaller, but also has supermarket. What I liked is that they are letting in only limited number of people at one time to avoid overcrowding and panic. On the other hand due to strong winds power was going out (due to strong wind) and adding drama to the situation  :

Somebody with coronavirus took a Greyhound bus from NYC to Rochester, NY. The bus made it’s way through Buffalo and Toronto after the person got off.

They was easy to spot on surveillance footage because they wore a mask and gloves through the whole trip.

80% are mild to asymptomatic, but 20% are bad enough to require some level of medical intervention and roughly 25-50% of those are bad enough to require serious medical intervention. Hard to believe it could go unnoticed for very long. That 5-10% seems like a small number, but it would swamp any medical system like a tsunami.

There are some good people out there. They just tend to not get the headlines.

That’s a question that comes up a lot. From a medical standpoint, your baseline temp doesn’t matter. We needed a standard and TPTB set 100.4 F (38 C) as the line. Other than that, I don’t pay much attention to the height of fever, but to the level of comfort to decide if it is a real thing or not. However, in this situation, 100.4 / 38 is the go - no go gauge.

Sometimes I seem to run at 95-96ish. Doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Maybe I’m related to the Royal Family? Part lizardoid?

Thats a lot of medspeak, but the clinical description is fascinating. The description of the state of her hospital is terrifying, though. Remember we are early days in this. We are where Italy was 2 weeks ago, and they are tapped out already. Shit…

I’ve wondered that about you. Nah your normal is what it is. Humans vary. As you would know!

Normal is highly overrated. At least outside the health realm!

The idea I think is that the cashiers are handling food items, credit cards, and signature pens that have been touched by customers all day. (The credit card readers here don’t have signature screens, I guess most of them in the US nowadays do.)

just keeping up with all the people shopping was exceeding difficult.

Presumably that will ease up once people stop panic-reacting to the emergency. After all, now that they have a 3 year supply of rice and pasta they can relax about food availability.
