It happened in China. Some doctors and nurses died too.
So, driving home from work yesterday I looked over at an old barn on the way to see two large vultures sunning themselves with that wings-spread-to-worship-the-sun thing that they do. Ordinarily, that would be really cool. Now, it’s like “yup, we are living a Steven King novel.” Stay safe, all.
Only the first. There will be many more. Some of us have to take those risks. Most do not. Make our job easier (and less dangerous) and please follow the guidelines for avoiding this disease.

Just to be clear, your president is still Bolsonaro?
SHIT JUST GOT REAL
Yes. He is the president. But he is always saying he is under attack. So, he urged people to go to the streets. When the WHO declared a pandemia, he had to change his mind.
OK, if these rallies were called for by Bolsonaro (and not just spontaneous demostrations of support), this is more consistent with my image of who he is.
Despite some video evidence, he vehemently denies this.
Let me point out that WV state HD got test kits only last week and as of yesterday had performed 34 tests. Not exactly reliable sample size.
Just yesterday I remarked to myself, “Well at least El Paso is okay”
Not anymore
TODAY: “Well at least Duluth is okay”
All Toronto libraries have been closed since Friday.

An epidemiologist I know endorses this as an excellent explanation of flattening the curve.
We sort of consider ourselves to be self-isolating by default: I work from home, my wife is a stay-at-home mom, we moved here several years ago and I basically have no friends (and my wife only has a few). All we intended to do was stay away from the grandparents. My wife is inordinately proud of her vegetable garden and larder, but until we decide to start eating bowls of dry spelt for dinner, we’ve still been going to the grocery store with usual regularity.
It occurs to me that this has all been fantastic for grocery store owners, who suddenly can’t keep products on their shelves, but probably the most at-risk occupation right now has to be grocery store employees, as they have to deal with some order of magnitude more people than even health professionals, and have even fewer resources for protection.
Christ, what an asshole.
MultCoLib announced they were closing on Friday but I just heard about it
