OnlyFans kicks out the sex workers who built it

Seriously, I thought “OnlyFans” was specifically for sex-themed content as its differentiation from Patreon. Without sex, what do they have left? I’m asking because I’ve never visited the site and have no idea.

Edit: I hope OnlyFans goes bankrupt with this silly decision. Seems like a real own goal.

Rachael Dolezal selling foot pics is not something I never expected.

So…what stops someone from making an OnlyFans clone that allows porn?

Pressure on payment processors?

If payment processing is the problem, how did OnlyFans manage it? And how did we expect them to keep porn going on the site?

It’s bait and switch, all the way down.

It seems to be something that money makes happen until the pressure is brought in a semi legitimate form. If you start from scratch as a porn platform I suspect the pressure will be brought sooner.

The payment processors are happy to wet their beaks on sexual content until a platform looks like it’s going to be IPO material. Once that happens, they threaten to cut off service.

I read some OnlyFans content providers are thinking of forming a co-op version of the platform. It won’t go public, but the payment processors will still deny it service.

So in the end there’s nothing to blame OnlyFans for…they were going to get pressured out of payment processing at some point no matter what. Just like every porn platform is going to, if they get too big.

I guess the complaint is, OnlyFans shouldn’t have gotten too successful, they should have taken measures to keep flying under the radar while simultaneously everyone in the world has heard about them.

It’s not like banks ever really cared about narco-profits or oligarchic-looting. Apparently boobies is where they draw the line.

I hope enough of the now-excluded performers can band together and create their own similar site. I may not be into what they do, but they deserve to make a safe living off it.

He had one good idea-- and that was to sell his business to Newscorp for $580million right as it was losing all its users. Then he basically retired and now travels the world. I wish he really was my friend.

I wonder when deviantart will crack down on the social deviants?

I’ll be your friend…

To a certain point, but OnlyFans isn’t saying that’s the main reason why, and is stigmatising the people who built their business. Also, they’re still claiming to prospective investors that they’ll have a viable IPO-worthy business model after this change when they clearly won’t.

Thanks, but I have a cat for that purpose.

Oh, I see how you are.

Oh well, I guess they’ll have to go back to their original business model.

Oh no, you just broke the internet.

Well, true, but nothing to blame them for other than the standard greed, being uncaring, probable money laundering, etc.

As I understand it - it is different than just “porn”. People follow specific people they like and there can be interaction and special access. I say this from reading some articles, not first hand knowledge so I could be wrong.

That said:

o_0 This makes as much sense as Playboy no longer showing boobs. Isn’t that what 99% of the content is on there - naked people doing things?

I supposed payment processors is one thing to appease… but at the same time, what, they don’t like money? But investors? WTF do they need investors for? Or why should they appease them? Why would you invest in Only Fans, if you don’t want them to do what they are known for? That’s like investing in McDonalds when you are a militant Vegan and then complain they sell hamburgers.

I thought the users and their clients are who you need to make happy. I assume they are taking a percentage of these transactions and thus should be making money that way.

This sounds like it is going to just kill their business model and something else will take its place.

I’m mostly being snarky and not being serious. I know that the main thing why OF was successful was that social interaction with certain content creators, its just not something i could ever see myself spending money on but then again i’m antisocial and the less i have to talk to people the happier i am.
