There is that, but the systems of (and around) policing can make a huge difference, as can the philosophies behind the approach to policing - e.g. Peelian principles, if actually utilized, tend towards better outcomes than the US model.
Glad we have the utility of being an example - even if it’s what not to do… Although you’re also just guaranteed to look better in comparison. (I suspect that the US has one of the more broken policing systems among comparable nations, even leaving aside the gun issue, which dominates everything.)
