WTF? When will people see the flaws in this? Minimum wage should allow you to at least pay rent and bills where you live.
Jesus, how much do you eat?
Thank you for wasting your vote.
I despise that phrase.
Paul Ryan controls a large amount of wealth. He ain’t worth shit.
I have brought this up before. For 4 years I was a single parent. My ex is a master at avoiding paying child support*. I had a full-time, decently paying job (1999 dollars, anyway). And I couldn’t afford the childcare. I literally could not afford to work, eat, and pay rent. My commute was an hour each way because the city I worked in was WAAAY too expensive so I lived in a cheaper city, so it would have been far easier to quit my job, stay home with my kid, and collect welfare.
Fortunately, I got a subsidy to pay my childcare expenses. That’s right, I still had to go on public assistance just to keep my job.
(*I say “is” because our child is now 20 years old and he still owes $30,000 in back support.)
A like for the lovely signs, but I disagree with the implicit statement that the Democratic and the Republican party are equally bad. Yes, a considerable part of the Dems are in the pocket of big business, but the Republicans have, on top of that, become so comically evil it’s hard to believe.
How much do you eat that groceries is under $58 bucks?? Last time i went i didn’t even get everything i needed because i was being lazy and i spent about 60-70 bucks
Because millions of people don’t necessarily equate “best interests” with “most money”.
The Republicans and Democrats are not equally bad. Being killed swiftly and painlessly is not equally as bad as being tortured to death over a very long period of time. Yet you will still die, eventually, either way.
Party operatives like to try to reframe every criticism that includes both parties as a false equivalency. But that’s just corporate tools using an ad hominem attack on a person who has correctly identified any problem that both parties share.
Unfortunately there are many disingenuous arguments that have become mainstream memes. This is only one of them. Here’s another:
Everyone who voted for someone who didn’t win “wasted their vote” according to this snide counterfactual nonsense. But the meme helps prevent third parties from gaining ground in the USA.
In reality, every party’s growth starts with people purposely backing losing candidates. There’s no other way to do it under the current system. If you’re not voting for third parties, you are voting for current trends (increasing income inequality, obdurate structural racism, increasing health costs, &etc.). The major parties have a demonstrated unwillingness to effect meaningful changes to these trends.
I would be happy for some one to tweet a hypothetical profile of Dexter, the multibillionaire, and how he stands to make out in Ryan’s tax plan.
And if Ryan knew – unlikely since he’s, well, what you could call a f***ing moron – why would one think he would care, what with being a leader in a party of sociopaths?
