It took me a couple of reads to work out that it was the Antelope that died.
Full-sized hippos are very territorial, wouldn’t surprise me if that’s true of the pygmy version as well.

Yeah, sharing space with a species reknowned for being obstreperous, bitey murderers doesn’t sound like much fun. Poor antelope
