Hippos are known to attack and eat animals like wildebeests, zebras and kudus, as well as other hippos in cases of cannibalism

The hippo appears to have a visibly bloodied side of its mouth on retreat, which would make sense given the state of the car door (and the car trying to move while the hippo had it in its mouth). Hopefully it wasn’t too hurt. There’s nothing worse than the feeling of cutting your mouth on the jagged metal of a car door after you bite into it.
