I agree. Except I think religious conservatives have convinced themselves that homosexuality itself is a manifestation of Satan, and how does one argue logically with that? I mean. . . SATAN, the single most evil thing in the entire known universe, and you damn liberals are defending him!
I too often try to come up with reasonable arguments that might have some kind of traction with conservatives, none seem to work. Even with non-religious conservatives, economic arguments about taxation and the role of government end up with them invoking Communism, the other great evil, so if I favor raising taxes to pay for social programs I am knowingly or unknowingly an agent of the Worldwide Communist Conspiracy.
